During the past few months, we have been seeing a war on cows. In Ireland, farmers are ordered to cull 200 000 cows, to “reduce emissions”. The Netherland Farmers are famously having their land stolen by their government in the name of climate change. In France, a court has released a report indicating that the country needs to reduce their cow herds significantly.

Do cows produce methane while they are chewing their cud? Yes. Is it significant enough that it will warm the planet? No. What the climate activists fail to mention, when they blame cows for all of the planet’s problems, are that cows are a net good for the environment. Their manure alone is a great natural alternative to chemical fertilizer and helps reduce soil degradation. Cows live in harmony with ecosystems across the planets, and can access terrains that otherwise cannot be used to grow plants or vegetables.

What will getting rid of cows do for our planet?

1. Increase the amount of deforestation: 60% of land used in agriculture cannot be used to grow plants. Cows are an amazing use of these lands, as they can convert low quality grass into amazing beef protein and make use of land which otherwise, would be wasted. Getting rid of cows would mean that we would have to deforest more in order to produce as much food as we would with them.

2. Further degrading the soil: With the mainstream use of industrial plant agriculture, we are constantly taking from our soils but never giving back. With every crop of plants, the soil is depleted of nutrients more and more because we never put back the nutrients into the soil. Overtime, the soil will be degraded and turn into a desert like state. We kill everything when we do industrial plant farming. This results in significant biodiversity loss which also increases the soil degradation over time.

3. People will only get sicker: The nutrients in animal-based products are much more biodigestable by humans than plants. That means, if you eat a steak and a plant food with the same amount of nutrients, your body will absorb more of the steak nutrients than the plant food. Many people cannot go without meat. My mom, for example, has been diagnosed with an autoimmune for the last 10 years. She listened to doctors and took countless medications for 9 years. She was not getting better by any means. Last year in June, I told her to start eating only meat for 6 weeks, and then slowly integrate only whole foods. Her symptoms are 90% better today and she is off of most of her medications. Without meat, this would not be possible.

The question remains: Why are the elites unfairly blaming cows for the emissions that they produce?

The answer is simple: control. Right now, you can go to a farmer and buy a half of beef in cash, and no one would ever know. The plant agriculture industry is already significantly monopolized. In contrast, there are a lot of animal farmers around that sell directly to consumers and the government has no idea. They will most likely try their hardest to get rid of every single cow farm on the planet, and once this is achieved, claim that plant agriculture causes soil degradation and take farmers’ land by force. If you control the food, you control the people.

What can you do to stop it?

The answer is simple. Buy from your local farmers. Sell your food to consumers who are willing to buy. The only way out of this insanity, is to create a decentralized market where the government has their nose out of your business. Eat only whole foods when it is possible to do so. I created a marketplace to do exactly so, called EarthCows, located at http://earthcows.com. People can buy or sell locally and opt out of the currently monopolized grocery system. This is also a great way to reduce emissions and help the environment.
